JLR VCI Logger on Diagnostics over Internet Protocol (DoIP) Vehicles
On DoIP vehicles the pop-up box contains the following instructions:
- Connect Gateway Module A (GWM) breakout cables (DAPN096 / JLR-418-692-02) and (DAPN0197 / JLR-418-692-03) between the GWM and the vehicle harness.
- Connect the OBD2 power splitter (DAPN0195 / JLR-418-692-01) to the vehicle OBD2 diagnostic connector.
- Connect the GWM interface cable (DAPN0194 / JLR-418-692-04) to the OBD2 power splitter plugs and GWM breakout DSUB connectors.
- Connect the JLR Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) to the OBD2 connector on GWM interface cable.
- Connect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable between the JLR VCI Logger and your machine.
- Select logger channel DSUB connections, then specify the data file location and name.
- Select START to begin the Logger session (use start/stop for manual pre/post triggering).
- When the vehicle has been selected, the software will determine what connections must be made. If DSUB number 1 has been connected to PTCAN, then use the dropdown to select PTCAN as channel 1.
- It is possible to log up to four channels.
- The comments box can be used for free text which will appear with the output of the data file.
- The data file dropdown box will allow the user to name and select the location of where the output file will be placed.
- The START and STOP icons will start and stop the JLR VCI Logger.
JLR VCI Logger for Multi-Controller Area Network (CAN) Vehicles
On Multi-CAN vehicles the pop-up box contains the following instructions.
- Connect the JLR VCIto the vehicle OBD2 diagnostic connector.
- Connect the USB cable between JLR VCI and the machine.
- Select logger channel connections, then specify the log file location and name.
- Select START to begin the JLR VCI Logger session (use the manual trigger points for manual pre/post triggering if required).
- For Multi-CAN/Dual-CAN vehicles, the VCI connects to the vehicle OBD2 diagnostic connector.
- Depending on the connected vehicle it can simultaneously log up to four channels.
- The channels available are pre-set according to the wiring of the diagnostic connector.
Results
The results will be saved locally to the machine, in the directory location of your choosing. The results will be stored in a zip archive containing two files:
- One .asc file
- One .txt file
