Installation and Configuration Instructions (G4732188)

Activities on the JLR Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) when connected to a vehicle are logged. These logs can be accessed for problem solving by the technical support team. The following instructions are on how to install the JLR VCI Controller Area Network (CAN) Logger and download the data.

Download Logger

  1. Go into installed apps on your machine, and uninstall the two JLR_VCI_Logger folders.
    • This will uninstall any previous versions of JLR VCI CAN Logger that are installed on your machine.
  2. Download the JLR VCI CAN Logger directly from the following link; JLR VCI CAN Logger Download
  3. Double click JLR VCI LoggerV1.X.X.exe
    • X.X will change whenever the version of the file is updated.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete installation.

Installation of the Logger

  1. The installation adds a file named JLR_VCI_Logger, which has a cog icon, to the desktop.
  2. To complete installation of the Logger config file, select the cog icon titled JLR_VCI_L....
    • The icon will disappear from the desktop after it has installed. This has an approximate load time of 48 seconds.
  3. The JLR VCI Logger can now be accessed through the Logger link on the application launcher page.
  4. Open the logger and check that the config file (patch) has been added.

Configuration of the Logger

NOTE:

There must be no diagnostic applications open or running on the machine where the JLR VCI Logger is to be used.

  1. Open the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) VCI CAN Logger from the JLR Application Launcher page.
  2. Select from the drop-down menus in boxes C to F the option applicable to the vehicle on test.
  3. When the vehicle variant has been established a pop-up will describe how to connect the VCI to the vehicle. You can select which channels are to be logged (boxes G to J).

Only select Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) Battery if you have raised a Technical Assistance (TA) and been sent the appropriate break-out cable by the Local Product Engineer.
